This weekend Spain and Argentina will clash in Mar del Plata, Argentina to determine the Davis Cup champion. Of course the big news is that Rafael Nadal will not be competing for Spain as he is still nursing a knee injury that kept him out of the Masters Cup. This is a huge blow for Spain especially since Nadal was essential in the win in the semi-finals over the US. Spain have to be considered underdogs in his absence. Continue Reading »

Novak Djokovic capped of his best year as a pro defeating Nikolay Davydenko 6-1 7-5 to capture his first Masters Cup. This is quite a turn around from last year where he lost all three round robin matches and ended the season poorly. If he had beaten Tsonga in the round robin and went on to win, he would have passed Federer and become the #2 player in the world. This certainly sets up next year to begin with a bang. Andy Roddick has withdrawn from the year end Masters Cup with a sprained ankle he sustained in practice. Roddick thought there might be a chance for him to play, but during his pre-match warm up he was unable to move well enough to compete. Roddick is replaced by #26 Radek Stepanek. Continue Reading »
